Culture or Conviction?

“Now if we are children, then we are heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” Romans 8:17 NIV

The world has its way of trying to make us believe things that are wrong in Christ, to God are ok because everyone’s doing it. Babylonians pagan King Nebuchadnezzar removed Daniel and his friends from their home so they could learn, speak, and act the way the Babylonians did. He gave them new names, offered them fine wine, food, and fun. But Daniel and his friends did not partake in any of the activities. He told the king he did not want to defile himself and ate only vegetables and water. He stood his ground and kept his faith in God. This is what you and I are to do. Keep our conviction in a culture of compromise. Daniel was relocated, offered rewards, educated, and renamed to get him to accept beliefs outside of his own. The world will do this very same thing to you and I, if we do not stand firm. It will draw you in to capture your heart, to get you —not to discourage you, but to encourage you, to do what the rest of the world is doing. Stand firm in your faith and do not violate your standards before God to fit in the culture. flirting with the world’s values, puts us at odds with God, our love for God is shown through our obedience to him. Daniel and his friends were made smarter and wiser than everyone in the kingdom because of their unwavering faith.
