Free will is one of the many gifts from God. He gives us a choice to serve and be in fellowship with him or not. As I began writing, I was reminded of a conversation between me and a friend. In that conversation, my friend was genuinely confused at how can a person that goes to church every Sunday be so mean and hateful. The Holy Spirit immediately spoke to me. I said just because someone goes to church every Sunday, does not mean they have a relationship with God. For years I loaned for a deeper relationship with God, but I wasn’t sure how to attain it. It felt like I was chasing something elusive. I eventually settled for the going to church every Sunday thing, surely that would do it. Nope, it didn’t work, something was still missing. It wasn’t until I began to read and study the Bible that I started to develop a relationship with God. Maybe you’re the go to church every Sunday, watch it on live stream on Wednesday, or the I just know how to talk and put my church face on kind of person. I’m here to tell you, that going to church is not enough. You must read, pray, and meditate on the word daily.
"So, then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” -Romans 10:17 NKJV
These things will transform your heart and your life. A famous painter painted a picture of Jesus holding a lantern at the doorstep of someone’s house. A kid shouted, “you painted it wrong; the doorknob is missing, how will he get in.” The painter said, “I didn’t forget anything, the only way he will enter, is if you invite him in. You have to give God permission to interfere in your affairs. He wants to take all your fear, pain, worry and so much more away, if you just let him in. Invite God into every aspect of your life and cultivate a deep intimate relationship with him. It might be that very thing you’re missing.
